1961 puch moped3/29/2024 While waiting for the result, I have contacted RBO, and they are sending me oversize hardened crankpins, new rollers and cages for the big end bearing as well as crankpins and new rollers for the side bearings. We are now having the hardening of the rollers tested. The mechanic has since disassembled all three crankshafts (the third crankshaft hasn’t been used yet), and a stroke with a file edge left behind a mark on the roller. The oil level in the tank by the way dropped while riding, and I also used a 1:25 fuel mixture.Īfter meticulously cleaning both the crank case and the second crankshaft with brake cleaner, we reassembled the engine. Since the crank case was wet but full of fine abrasion, we suspected residue from vapour blasting to be the cause. We found that the big end bearing had been completely destroyed. After handing over the bike to Adrian, the engine seized on its very first ride while idling. In September, I fitted one of the crankshafts into the black SG, and there were no issues during the first 100 km of test drives. This included oversize rollers for the big end and of course also the bearings for the side rod. Problems with the refurbished SG crankshaftsĪt the beginning of 2021, I had three SG crankshafts overhauled.
